Summer Primark Haul

I was in desperate need of some summer clothes, seeing as it is now hot enough to get sunburnt in England (I'm telling you this from experience!). As usual, Primark to the rescue. I was completely dragged in by all the SS12 collection and accessories, they were fantastic. I thought I'd share with you what I got so that you can snap up the bargains before they all disappear! :)
Snake Bracelet £3 - Flower Earings £2 - Flower Ring £2.50 - Pearl Bracelets (set) £1.50 - Gold Pandora Bracelet £3 - Eagle Ring £3
Big Beach Bag £8 - Aviators £2 - Sandles £6
Sunnies £1 - Aviators £2
So after going kinda nuts in the accessories section, I had a quick ponder through the clothes. I got some good essentials, vests and leggings, but they are too boring to blog about! I picked up a couple of bandeau tops for sunbathing on my holiday (yay!), these were both under £3!
Next.. there were so many tops like this, all £6 each. I had armfuls and armfuls but we were going for cocktails after and I wouldn't look very cool with a mahoooooosive primani bag.. so two it was. First up a cool chilli pepper swing top £6 and a cute cropped tie sailor tee, also £6.

I can't wait to wear all of these.. eeeeee! Sorry for a very picture-heavy post chummies. I hope you like! Primark is seriously impressing me at the moment.. guilty pleasure!
Hope you all have a really lovely weekend.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

Oh hey bandwagon! I had seen this all over the blogosphere but I am one of the harshest critics when it comes to foundations, I wanted to see whether this would live up to all the hype. I rarely stray from my Chanel foundations because I have such sensitive skin and don't like a 'cakey' look. Once I put this on, nostalgia came and punched me right in the face, I used to wear a Rimmel foundation when I was about 13 and it still smells exactly the same!
Swatch in shade 200 'Soft Beige'
The consistency is actually very good. There is a perfect amount of coverage for this weather, it will cover any discolouration or blemishes while having a subtle amount of shimmer for a dewy glow. It also has SPF 15 which is ticking all the boxes so far. The shade range isn't very extensive but 200 'soft beige' was actually a perfect colour match for me (Chanel B30). This liquid foundation is also pretty hydrating, I have a few dry patches on my face and they weren't highlighted or irritated so I was so pleasantly surprised by this little gem, and for £8.99 for 30ml I could hardly complain.
Really hard to capture shimmer- but you see what I mean!
The shimmer isn't really noticeable, only under bright artificial light and in the bottle, which is another big plus. So far, lots of pros and absolutely no cons! I will let you in on a little secret and tell you that I have actually been wearing this for the last two weeks instead of my Chanel! And that's saying something. This is perfect for quick application and I'm impressed by the formulation- and the price! No wonder I haven't seen any bad reviews on this.. I urge you to give it a try!
What's a Friday post without a little FOTD wearing the product at hand! This was taken on webcam, sorry! But my Canon's battery is out of juice and I can't remember for the life of me where I put the charger. However, I love this foundation, I am so impressed at how drugstore foundations have improved and Rimmel have finally upped their game. This lasts on me for about 5 hours, I don't powder over it because the finish is so perfect. Does it replace my Chanel Perfection Lumiere? No. But in terms of my favourites, this one is definitely up there!

Happy Friday Chums!

Revlon Lip Butters

These have been floating around the interwebz for a long old time now, but they have only just become available in the UK and online but the majority of shades are continuously sold out. I feel like I have been waiting a lifetime for these! I think you can forget about seeing them any time soon in Boots unless you are in London or another big city because I was searching all week. My mum actually found these after constantly having to put up with me banging on about them and she surprised me with my favourite three!
We have all seen these to death and know about the rich mango, shea and coconut butter content but I thought I'd give you my two penny's worth and show you swatches of my favourite shades.
I am a huge fan of the packaging, this has caused quite a stir online and most people hate the tacky plastic feel but I think they are cute and fun. These remind me of my Chanel Rouge CoCo Shines in their consistency, and the quilted outer edges.
♥ Cupcake
♥ Lollipop
♥ Sweet Tart

Back to the consistency of these little beauties.. they absolutely scream Rouge CoCo Shine. Each one feels like a smooth, hydrating balm on application but give the colour payoff and pigmentation of a sheer lipstick. Most if not all shades contain a considerable amount of shimmer, in particular 'Lollipop' has lots of blue and purple sparkles in the sunlight but this is not a bad thing! I find that it makes your lips look plump and smooth and gives a bit more depth to the colour so it looks more natural and wearable.

The only bad thing about these is the staying power, but I wasn't expecting too much from what is basically a lip balm. You will be lucky to get an hours wear out of each application, but I just carry mine around with me.
Quite a lot of bloggers have been disappointed by these saying that they don't understand all the hype- I do!! These are the ultimate Chanel Rouge CoCo Shine dupes in their formulation (but only £7.99!) and the shade range of 20 is phenomenal. This is a great way to experiment with different lip colours because all of the shades are sheer enough to be wearable and flattering. These are on a 3-for-2 at the moment in Boots so I will no doubt be taking advantage of this offer and buy the other 17 shades!
Oh, and all of the shades are named after deserts. I think someone is getting their hopes up! ^^
Have a very happy and a very sunny weekend everybody!

Chanel Injection

There comes a time in life when every girl/lady/woman/female needs a little boost of expensive nice-ness to keep us going. For those times when ordinary shopping isn't enough to keep those cheeky little smiles on our faces, a kind of extreme retail therapy.. and therapy is good for you, right?

My three favourite foundations in the whole world, albeit a bit more on the pricey side I would never go anywhere else. I have the Pro Lumiere (discontinued!), Perfection Lumiere and Vitalumiere Aqua. And also for those of you asking I am in the shade B30 :)
I also use the Le Blanc De Chanel Primer, it's the best primer I've ever had and it just lasts and lasts.
For powder I use the Mat Lumiere Luminous Powder. This compact makes me swooooon, I feel so grown up with it in my handbag for touch-ups on the go.
Lipsticks.. Rouge Allure 'Enthusiast' (the bright red below!) and the Rouge CoCo Shine in 'Chance' which is the most hydrating, wearable (and expensive!) pink that I have ever come across.
Soleil Tan De Chanel.. I waited for five long months to get hold of this little baby and I am never letting it go! Best cream/gel bronzer on the market and you get absolutely tonnes of it. Very natural and smells nice too!

Yes that is an awful lot of money to be spent on makeup, but I just can't resist the pure luxury that is Chanel. And we all need to indulge and treat ourselves from time to time- it's only right... right?!

Do you ever have these naughty little splurges?

Too Faced Brow Envy Kit

I can't believe I haven't given this product it's own review yet. I actually got this back around Christmas after continuously complaining about my eyebrows this kit seemed to answer all of my prayers. Inside the beautiful packaging is a drawer with 3 different eyebrow stencil shapes and an eyebrow pencil. On the top layer you get setting wax, a brow bone highlight and powder for blondes and brunettes. The fun doesn't end there, oh no, because there are also a set of mini tweezers (that work!) and a wand for the setting wax and also a slanted brush to apply the powder precisely along your brows. I use this kit every day and the stencils ('Girl Next Door' is my favourite) every couple of weeks just to reshape my brows if they have gone wandering.
Sorry for the mess, as I said, I use this everyday! I have swatched the two powders, but I find that they are quite dark. Even though I am a brunette I have to use the blonde powder, maybe because I was a natural blonde as a child, but still, something to remember if you're thinking of buying this.
(Left: Blonde    |    Right: Brunette)
If this kit went walkabouts and I couldn't find it, I would repurchase the very same day! I got mine for £28 from Boots, and to me it is worth every penny. Although one day I might cheat on this and try HD Brows.. heheheheh.

HD Whiskers anyone?

High Street Haul: Everyday Essentials

Everything always seems to run out at the same time for me when it comes to everyday essentials. So after a quick restock in Boots yesterday, this post is dedicated to the little items that I take for granted but would no way be able to live without! Nothing groundbreaking, but I've spent more money on similar high-end products and they don't even come close to these..

  • Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protector: This stuff smells lurvvvely. I heat style my hair everyday, I am addicted to the perfect look that blowdrying and straightening creates. This along with my Moroccan Oil leaves my mane looking half decent. It's cheap and it works, what more could you want.
  • L'Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray: No kidding, this stuff just holds forever. My hair looks more oomph-ified if I can even use that made up word. I like the soft and non-sticky feel of this, and other hairsprays have left my hair feeling crispy and it literally cracks out of place when I move it, This is easy to brush out too.
  • No7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make-Up Remover: I like this because it has lovely cleansing oil that separates and sits on top of the blue cleansing fluid. Shake this up and glide it along your eyelid on a cotton ball and it will just sweep all of that cakey black mascara and liner right off.
  • Simple Replenishing Face Moisturiser: This is lovely for my sensitive skin. A light, fresh day moisturiser that I can use once I get out of the shower. It sinks in so quickly, perfect for when I'm in a rush.
  • Dove Invisible Dry Deadorant: Who likes B.O? Not much else to say really..
  • Nivea Daily Essentials Face Wipes: I really like these. Now everyone's like, 'it's a face wipe'. Au contraire my friends, these are fresh smelling, sensitive, soft, quilted face towels. Ok so they are face wipes, but they are my favourites.

Apart from my little adventure to Boots and my cupcake mischief, I haven't really done much else this weekend. I will be running back to Boots later today for the first official release of the Revlon Lip Butters in UK stores, finally!
Have you ever found any products that beat the high-end brands?

Animal Print Cupcakes!

Over the weekend some friends and I got together on a mission to make the best, lightest and most tasty cupcakes ever. The fact that they are in adorable animal print cases make them even better.
If you fancy your chances at making these (serves 12) you will need:
  • 100g softened butter/margarine
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g self raising flower
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • A technical 'splash' of milk
  • Awesome animal print cake cases
If yours came out as big as ours, leave them in the oven for 20 minutes on 180°C.
Don't forget to mix up a lovely butter icing to put in a piping bag and add some pink colouring like we did! Any kind of sprinkles are optional :-) ...but we suggest you do!

What do you think chummies?!
